Nharo Bushmen
For hundreds and thousands of years Nharo Bushmen (Nharo-San) inhabited the area around Zelda Game & Guestfarm. And still today a bushmen family is living here, willing to share their fascinating culture and tradition with our guests.
The bushmen are hunter-gatherers that have lived all over Southern Africa for over 20.000 years. Traditionally they lived in small groups / families with about 20-30 persons. They were always dependant on water and developed a nomadic lifestyle without permanent structures. Today most of them are living in villages and struggle to adapt to the modern world.
Especially the Bushmen living in the Kalahari still have an unbelievable knowlegde about indigenous plants, which they use mainly for food and medicine, but also for perfume. The Bushmen were and are still skilled hunters, who hunt small and big game (even giraffe) with poisened arrows or traps.
Today the culture and tradition is vanishing in modern Southern Africa. Nobody knows how long the wisdom of the Bushmen can survive.
At Zelda Game and Guestfarm the visitors can learn more about the tradition and culture of the Bushmen.
